Hello sketchers,
In today’s session I’ll be sharing with you how I sketch cliffs and in particular how I capture them in the Autumn season.
Welcome to my eight post in the series called PROCESS & PLAY.
Each session I take a closer look at a sketchbook PROCESS, chat through what I’m doing and then invite you to join me to PLAY in your sketchbook.
We’ll firstly take a look at pages from my on location sketchbooks commenting on how I’ve previously tackled sketching cliffs and rocks.
I’ll then share with you some Autumnal colour palettes I like to use in a mix of mediums. We’ll look more closely at shape, value and texture using some photo references from a recent walk.
And then finally working from a a couple more photo refs I’ll demo how I sketch two autumnal cliff scenes in a range of mediums, layering and breaking down the process step-by-step. You’ll have my photo references to use and colour palettes to refer to.
Hopefully you’ll find it enjoyable and apply what we learn to your own sketches.
