Hello!
Welcome to my eleventh post in the series called PROCESS & PLAY.
In today’s session we’ll be looking at fun ways to sketch boats!
I find boats to be a really fun subject to sketch but also can be quite tricky to tackle if you don’t know where to start. In this session I aim to break it down and simplify the subject so that you can feel confident enough to draw them.
Each session I take a closer look at a sketchbook PROCESS, chat through what I’m doing and then invite you to join me to PLAY in your sketchbook.
We’ll firstly take a look at pages from my on location sketchbooks and I share the ways I’ve sketched some fishing boats before.
We’ll then do a double page spread of warm up exercises looking at the shapes and details of boats.
And finally I’ll share with you a simple way to fold a concertina zine and working in panels show you a method for creating a fun, mini boat zine. You’ll have my photo refs to work from and colour palettes to use if you like.
Hopefully you’ll find it enjoyable and can apply what we learn to your own boat sketches.
