Hello sketchers,
Edit: The replay is now ready to view, find it at the bottom of this post.
Join me next Thursday for our July draw-along where we’ll be drawing inspiration from the beautiful lavender fields of Roskorwell Farm, here on the Lizard.
Roskorwell Farm is based very near the seaside cove of Porthallow, not far from the village of St Keverne. Each Summer they open their doors and invite the public to come and stroll the fields and enjoy the heady scent of Lavender alongside the gentle hum of bees. It is a peaceful place and you can watch the butterflies and bees buzz from flower to flower and the swallows dart across the pond.
Husband and wife team Mark and Sam Hall-Digweed manage the farm and when open serve a delicious selection of refreshments which includes Sam’s special lavender and lemon cake. The lavender season is surprisingly short running from early June to around the last week of July, with harvesting beginning around mid July.
The lavender is harvested and then distill steamed and made into oil which then can be used in a range of products like soap, salts, candles, creams, essentials oils.
I’ve been sketching there for the last 3 years leading sketch walks as well as drawing on location there myself. I thought it would make a fun draw-along session to invite you to sketch the farm together.

It will also be an opportunity to take some time out to draw together and chat, sharing materials we’re enjoying using and discover more about Lavender together!
