I thought it would be fun to share my sketchbook pages every few months. Firstly to have a place to catalogue them, and secondly to see how I’m working and being influenced. Hope you find it interesting!

This month I have really enjoyed sketching over pre-painted pages, there’s something about having a painterly background that presents both a challenge and excitement to the sketching process. I would really like to explore this more so will paint more backgrounds in my sketchbooks and see how it pushes my work.

Melanie these are so lovely! The color palette you choose and variety of styles and loose qualities are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your sketchbook work. Very inspiring! I love your idea of pre painting your pages and love the charcoal gray with the lighter neocolors on top- such a great effect I’m looking forward to trying!
