Hello!
Welcome to my 15th post in our PROCESS & PLAY series.
Each session I take a closer look at a sketchbook PROCESS, chat through what I’m doing and then invite you to join me to PLAY in your sketchbook.
This month our focus for our Process and Play is on capturing the texture of stone.
We’ll look at previous sketchbook drawings from over the last few years where I have drawn a selection of stone subjects.
Here on the Lizard there are plenty of subjects created from stone- harbour walls, fishing huts, mile markers, chapels, churches and Cornish hedgerows.
Once I’ve shared some of my sketchbook pages I’ll then show you how I approach stone in a number of ways from using a simple monochrome palette to more layered sketches and mixed media using inks, water soluble crayons, pencils.
We also use some surprising colours that you may not reach for ordinarily to capture stones.
We’ll be using a mix of mediums to create and I encourage you to play and experiment with what you have on hand.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy this stone-themed drawing session and pick up lots of ideas for how to capture this subject in your sketchbooks.
