Hello,
Welcome to my 14th post in our PROCESS & PLAY series.
Each session I take a closer look at a sketchbook PROCESS, chat through what I’m doing and then invite you to join me to PLAY in your sketchbook.
This month our focus for our Process and Play is drawing feathered friends. It also follows on nicely from our birds draw-along we had earlier in the month- see below:
In this session we’ll jump straight into our sketchbooks and take a closer look at the mix of materials I’ll be using.
I also share some spreads from the recent draw-along which includes drawing over 20 birds within a 40 second time limit! Very fun to do and it gets you loose and over the fear of making a mark.
We firstly take some time to zoom in on the textures and patterns that we find on a variety of birds and I’ll share a mix of ways to approach this, including a more unusual technique involving an electric eraser.
We’ll then look at a few more birds and draw them in their entirety, again with a mix of materials.
We’ll be using a mix of mediums to create and I encourage you to play and experiment with what you have on hand.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy this fun bird-themed drawing session and have lots of ideas to further capture these feathered friends.
