I am starting a sight-reading project with my piano students, and these are wonderful, adaptable ideas to get my students going. For example, KEEP IT SHORT -- 5 minutes a day over time does wonders. KEEP IT SIMPLE -- Focus on notes and keep the beat going. USE PROMPTS (a way for me to add spice) -- a piece in G, an animal in the title, a dance. So many ideas for sketching and more. Thank you so much for your thougtfulness and inspiration.
Nice piece with good advice. I get up in the morning and immediately put the date, temperature. Other weather. Sunrise and sunset time and that starts the page That’s probably from my nature journaling but it works for me. I’m going to put color on pages as you suggested. That’s cool
Great ideas Melanie! I am getting so much better at just putting marks down since I started sketching outdoors! Looking forward to the next one. ❤️
So glad to hear!
Excellent advice Mel! Thank you so much for sharing! Thank you too for keeping us inspired and motivated! X
Great thoughts Mel, I watched your video last night and really enjoyed it, I’m going to give painting outdoors another try next week with a friend.

This is so interesting to hear thanks for sharing how you'd apply it to your piano students!
Such good tips Mel especially about not being precious about the page! x

I love the idea of putting bark resin or grass stains onto your journal --What a great way to open up your approach & make it more playful!
Definitely makes this fun!!
