That is a lovely set of sketches! I adore the fact you drew Kriksis' little sculpture Rex the Dog. My favorites are the footbridge and the monument of the winged horse. Your style is just so rich in texture while leaving just enough to the imagination. You draw a world that I want to exist within, even on a blustery coastal day. Mizzle. Sandi is right. That's a new favorite word of mine as well now!
I just received my Zine of the Lizard and I am so happy to flip through it. The thank you card with a personal message is very much appreciated by this fan. well done :)
Thank you for the lovely tour and recap of Sept/Oct.....time really has flown by, hasn't it?! Thank you for being a bright Light during these dark times. I appreciate the focus on art & loveliness and the absence of political/current times remarks that have popped up elsewhere.
These months seem to have flown by, before you know it we'll be in 2024! Definitely have to make an effort to share these pages. I'm trying to do what I can with the time I have and glad to inspire or encourage others along the way. Thanks Susan for your support.
Wonderful sketches-- thanks for sharing them and the memories-- love the variety of color and textures! I was so excited to see the Lizard zine in your folksy shop :) Makes ordering from the EU so easy... looking forward to seeing it in person! <3
Thanks Julie. Hmm it really depends on the time I have and the subject matter. I always certainly use a watercolour or gouache base, but then may layer with neocolor 2/ inktense/ luminance pencils. My oil pit pencil certainly does like to make an appearance and usually at the end!
Fabulous sketches, Mel, what a great sketchbook tour you have given us. You're so inspirational, thank you for sharing.
Thanks Caroline that's very kind

Well observed Terri! Thanks for your encouraging comments too.
Lovely sketches Mel! Does Tony sketch with you too?x
Thankyou! He is my patient partner who likes to encourage me to sketch but prefers to drive and calmly sit next to me.

Thanks Jennifer- posted out yesterday so will be with you soon I hope.
Love these new sketches. Do you typically do watercolor or gouache and then use oil pencil over them for details?
