Hello!

Welcome to my twelfth post in the series called PROCESS & PLAY.

This means I’ve been producing these videos for a whole year- and we’ve covered a range of subjects over that time. Hopefully they have been helpful and encouraging and if you’ve yet to check them all out you can find them available to see here.

In today’s session I decided to give myself an hour of play in my sketchbook looking at Spring wildflowers- totally inspired by the collaborative draw-along I did with co-host

La Scarlatte
last week.

And so I invite you to join me in your sketchbooks for this experimental time of paint and play inspired by Spring flowers.

Each session I take a closer look at a sketchbook PROCESS, chat through what I’m doing and then invite you to join me to PLAY in your sketchbook.

We’ll firstly prepare our pages and cover them with layers of the colour and texture.

Using the flower reference imagery we’ll then draw over the top with a series of drawing exercises geared to make you draw loose and without hesitation.

And finally we’ll complete the spread with paint glazes, colour mixing, looking at negative space, adding a mix of media and gradually see our wildflowers come to life on the page.

Hopefully you’ll find it really fun and exploratory and can discover new ways of working that you can apply to your own nature sketches.

If you’d like to find out more upgrade to paid or scroll on down to watch the video if you are already a paid member.
